Edu-notion and Adam Wa Mishmish

Edunotion’s Journey with Adam Wa Mishmish has been a fun and unexpected journey. Since 2018, Edunotion’s founder’s Karma Khalidi and Afia Omari have been holding meetings and brain storming all sorts of ideas that would work to complement AWM’s vision pertaining to the development of an Arabic Curriculum.
The Arabic curriculum that we are working on, aims to teach children the main concepts and skills necessary in the Early Years; in a fun and engaging way. As Adam wa Mishmish is a music company, we aimed from day one to stay true to the soul of the business and use song/dance to teach children tricky concepts and words.
Since the first meeting between the Edunotion and AWM team, it was clear that our philosophies and beliefs aligned. Edunotion’s vision is to uplift Early Years practice in Jordan and to advocate for children’s right to play. It is essential that children are given the opportunity to explore and experience ‘Aha’ moments on their own, to make sense of their world and this best happens during play- “Children have real understanding only of that which they invent themselves.” ~ Jean Piaget. At the core of Edunotion’s practice is the belief that if children are presented with facts without them being meaningful ie part of their world or by being able to relate to them then-learning becomes meaningless.
With all the aforementioned, Edunotion and AWM collaborated to create an interactive curriculum which enables Arabic as a Second language speakers to engage in concepts through songs, dance, art, story and movement. In addition, there are ideas on how parents can bring the concepts closer to the child by linking the learning to the children’s homes and environment. Many meetings and discussions have led to the development of this exciting project which will launch in the near future. At this point Edunotion feels like a part of the AWM family and we have many more projects being cooked for the benefit of Arabic Children everywhere.
